Fishminster, Whiteladies Rd

Formerly Flipper Fish and Chips.

The new premises had applied for a licence to sell alcohol and to provide 'Late Night Refreshment' (fish and chips!) until as late as 03.30hrs at weekends.

We had no objection to the alcohol licence provided it is only for those eating in meals inside the premises.
We were concerned at the potential for noise, pavement obstruction and nuisance from customers outside, particularly as heaters had been fixed to the shopfront to warm the customers!

This, and the long standing tradition for eating fish and chips 'on the hoof' means that late night trade is a real issue for residents. We are therefore sought to have midnight closing.

Result

Granted a licence (i) to sell alcohol with meals in the restaurant until 11 p.m. Sun–Thurs, midnight Fri–Sat.
No drinks to be taken outside. Food including takeaway until midnight every night.

A good outcome, recognising the potential nuisance from late night hot food takeaways.
