Thumbs up or thumbs down...?

Report compiled by Roger Mortimer

December 2011

The appearance of our area often depends on many relatively small details.
Front gardens, boundary walls, gates, and the presence or absence of wheelie bins!
These are not candidates for Gold Star awards but some deserve comment.

So at the AGM we displayed, on a Thumbs Up panel and a Thumbs Down panel
some examples of both genres.

Here are two examples from the Thumbs Up panel.

75 Redland Road

New Bath stone gate piers, precise copies of the original.
Several nearby houses have retained or renewed these grand gate piers.

Archfield Court

The existing gate piers, with their distinctive Bath and Pennant stone bands,
have been fully repaired.

Nearby is one of the Victorian lamp posts that has been upgraded as part of
RCAS long term project masterminded by Tony Wilks.

Congratulations to all concerned !
