The awards are made yearly for developments that the
assessors consider enhance the amenity and appearance of their neighbourhood.
A large part of the RCAS area lies within two Conservation Areas. We
normally only consider those aspects of developments which are visible to the
general public. Nominations are made by members of the Society and the
assessments were made during a walk-about in September. This year there
were a record number of entries of all types and sizes of developments from
improvements to front gardens / forecourts to terraces of new residential
properties. The assessment panel was made up of Committee Members plus
interested RCAS members. We are pleased that we have not had any
nominations this year for the Wooden Spoon (for particularly deplorable
developments!)
The Awards, in the form of Certificates, were made to the developers and their professional advisers at the AGM on 6th November when representative from all three of the Gold Star winners were present, some having travelled considerable distance to be present.
